death I think is no parenthesis

Another of my favorites from Cummings. This one feels incredibly appropriate to me right now. Many of my closest friends have lost someone very dear to them sometime within the past ten months. I think poetry can resonate with what we've lost and maybe--just maybe--give us at least a moment of peace and awakening.

  1. I agree with what you said about poetry: it's powerful, and it does have the power to heal.

I'm sure you know that today is Poem in Your Pocket Day. I hope that people who haven't been exposed to a lot of poetry in their lives will read some today and realize its power.
