What's Up Wednesday

“What’s Up Wednesday” is a weekly blog hop by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk. From Jaime: It’s similar in some respects to the Currently… post, but it’s been whittled down to only four headings to make it quicker and more manageable on a weekly basis. Be sure to visit Jaime's blog to add your post to the link list!

What I'm Reading: I went on a major reading binge over the Christmas holiday, and now that I'm back at work I'm flailing because I don't have time for ALL THE READING. I'm planning to start Unhinged by A.G. Howard tonight or tomorrow.

What I'm Writing: Still working on my Civil War story, tentatively titled STARS & STRIPES. Currently reading through beta notes, making adjustments, adding some scenes, taking some out. Maybe...maybe I'll be on submission by March. That's my goal. We'll see if I can pull it off :)

What Inspires Me Right Now: Beyonce. Is that silly? I've been seeing the "You Have As Many Hours In A Day As Beyonce" posts show up on Tumblr, and while I don't have her money or resources, it's still inspiring. So here's to kicking ass this year. Or at least trying.

What Else I've Been Up To: We finally have another account executive in my department at work, so my stress level has gone way, way down. As a result, I've been enjoying life a whole lot more and getting to spend more time with my husband. So we've been eating well, playing games, and doing what best friend/lovers do. So it's been good.

What's up with you?

  1. Congrats on finishing your book, have your beta comments coming in, and possibly being ready by March for submission! Katy talked about your book in her post, and I am jealous. :)

I also binge read over the holidays and have had to scale back to get some real work done. Yay (not)!

  2. Re: Beyonce... I've never cared about her one way or another, but then I watched the documentary HBO did on her and now I think she's amazing. Totally down-to-earth and inspirational.

    Anyway.

I'm nearly done with my STARS AND STRIPES reading and I should have notes to you by Friday at the latest. Have a great week, lady!

  3. I really love the title STARS & STRIPES, and I love that it's a Civil War story. Good luck on your goal of sub by March!

  4. I really need to read SPLINTERED. I took a gamble and ordered UNHINGED because I fully expect to love the first book. (I trust the opinions of those who loved it.) I'm so happy things are coming along so well with Stars & Stripes. Katy had some really great things to say about it! Hope you have a wonderful week, Liz!

  5. I've never been a fan of Beyonce, but I do appreciate the idea that we all have the same amount of time in a day. So there is no reason for us to not get as much done. I hope you have a wonderful week!

  7. Good luck with getting to submission by March. I love Civil War books, though it's been awhile since I've read one (not counting the overrated Homer P. Figg we had to read in Children's Lit, since I couldn't finish it).

  14. Hi there Liz! I saw your name in the Linky list and immediately flashed back to the TV show Roswell. (I had a big crush on Shiri Appleby. ;) ) Nice to meet you, congrats on the less stress at work thing...

I have to say, I'm not sure I agree to the 'indifference' quote from Elie Wiesel in your sidebar. That's not what opposites mean to me. The opposite of indifference, generally, would be passion, which does cover love, faith, appreciation of art and life... but still, you can't say that the opposite of all those things is indifference. That's like comparing a book and a library, they're on different scales. Just my two cents.
