What's Up Wednesday

“What’s Up Wednesday” is a weekly blog hop by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk. From Jaime: It’s similar in some respects to the Currently… post, but it’s been whittled down to only four headings to make it quicker and more manageable on a weekly basis. Be sure to visit Jaime's blog to add your post to the link list!

What I'm Reading: I started Unhinged this weekend, and oh my word am I loving it. I'm trying to read it slowly. In fact, I'll be trying to read all books a little more slowly this year. I have this horrible habit of tearing through books, and then when sequels come out I can't remember a thing. I'm hoping this new week-long read rather than day-long read will help with that.

What I'm Writing: I've been making some updates to my Civil War story thanks to the super helpful notes from my beta readers. I'm still on track for my March submission goal, so we'll see if that continues!

What Inspires Me Right Now: The word "boldness." The idea of taking action, of moving forward, of stepping into the unknown, even if it's frightening.

What Else I've Been Up To: Right now I'm dealing with a flat tire. Currently I'm stuck at the Volkswagen dealership because my used car did not come with the proper locknut to get the flat off and put the spare on. So I had to have my car towed and am now waiting for them to get it off and put the spare on. Then it's off to Firestone.

What's up with you?

  2. That's fantastic that you're getting such great feedback on your WiP. The encouragement and suggestions of trusted writing friends is irreplaceable, in my opinion. Awesome that you're on track with your submission goal too!

Like you, I've made different decisions with respect to my reading challenge goals this year. Reading at breakneck speed really doesn't do us any favours, does it? I can't wait to read my copies of SPLINTERED and UNHINGED. Have a wonderful week all around, Liz!

  3. I have the same problem sometimes with my reading pace. I recent;y read "Crown of Midnight" in the course of a couple of days because once I hit the middle of the story, I couldn't put it down. So I stayed up all night in order to finish it.

    Good luck with the car...

  5. I get what you mean about tearing through sequels way too quickly. I tend to do the same thing. I'm eager to read UNHINGED, so I'm glad you're enjoying it. Good luck with your story updates and your flat tire situation--the first at least sounds fun, the second not so much!

  6. So, the flat tire is lame. Car troubles (and spending money on them) are some of my least favorite things. I'm with you on tearing through books. I was just thinking about this today because I'm eagerly anticipating INTO THE STILL BLUE, but I can hardly remember what happened in UNDER THE NEVER SKY. #ReaderProblems Anyway, best of luck finishing up your MS. I am so, so excited to hear about what happens during your query process. (Also, I owe you query notes and I promise that you'll have them tomorrow.) Have a good rest of the week, Liz!
