What's Up Wednesday

“What’s Up Wednesday” is a weekly blog hop by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk. From Jaime: It’s similar in some respects to the Currently… post, but it’s been whittled down to only four headings to make it quicker and more manageable on a weekly basis. Be sure to visit Jaime's blog to add your post to the link list!

What I'm Reading: I finished up Unhinged and reviewed it over the weekend. It was lovely in every way I expected it to be. Trying to decide what to read next. On the list: Infinite (the final book in the Incarnate series), Dangerous Girls, or The Killing Woods.

What I'm Writing: Still working through beta revisions. I really want to finish these by Sunday before I go out of town for a trade show. I'm about halfway through so we'll see if that's doable. Then it's on to polishing up my query letter and doing a final read-through. Also giving it to my husband to read.

What Inspires Me Right Now: I get the daily emails from Story People (Brian Andreas), and I found one in my inbox that has really stuck with me:

I've always liked the time before dawn because there's no one around to remind me who I'm supposed to be, so it's easier to remember who I am.

What Else I've Been Up To: I have four new tires. While my bank account isn't terribly happy about it, the car drives much better. Beyond that it's been a work-heavy week as I gear up for my client's biggest trade show of the year while simultaneously trying to fight off getting sick. I'm ready for it to be the week after next so I can breathe again :)

 What's up with you?

  1. Good luck on your revisions! It's always a good feeling to get through a round of edits and see the progress. I love shaping a MS from something messy to something manageable!

Our car would benefit from some new tires. My husband is obsessed with checking our tires, other peoples tires, he's even been known to leave notes for people with dangerously low or flat tires. It may be some form of OCD. :)

  2. I love that Story People quote--makes me wish I was more of a morning person. I've heard excellent things about DANGEROUS GIRLS; that's one I hope to read soon.

  3. As far as what to read next... I loved DANGEROUS GIRLS and I've got THE KILLING WOODS sitting on my nightstand right now. It's up next, and I'm hoping it's good because STOLEN is just so freaking amazing.

I'm so excited that you're nearly done with revisions, Liz. I can't wait to hear what becomes of your querying experience. Sending you lots of positive vibes!

  4. You're so, so close to querying. That's exciting, Liz! Wishing you all kinds of luck with that because I want to read this awesome story of yours in book form. :-) I still haven't gotten to SPLINTERED or UNHINGED, but I think they're super close to the top of the TBR pile. Can't wait, especially knowing that the 2nd book is good. (That's always kind of a worry, isn't it?) Hope this week goes smoothly but quickly for you!

  7. I vote for DANGEROUS GIRLS next! It's so sosososo good. I wish I could go back and read it for the first time again. Good luck pushing through with those revisions this week--just think of two weeks from now when you can be relaxing and it'll all be okay :)

  9. I need to get myself a copy of SPLINTERED seeing as I originally read it from the library, and then I need to devour UNHINGED. I haven't read the INCARNATE series yet, but I've been meaning to try it too. Love that quote, Liz! I hope you have a productive revision week!
