Ready. Set. Write! Kick-Off Post

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive--hosted by Katy Upperman, Alison MillerJaime Morrow, and Erin Funk--that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at in our writing—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing.

First: I'm so thankful these lovely ladies are hosting this yet again! Last year I was able to finish the rewrite of the current manuscript I'm querying. This year? I'd like to write an initial draft of my latest shiny new idea: a ghost story!

So in the spirit of focusing on writing rather than blogging, I'll keep this short and sweet. I have a bachelorette party that kicks of Wednesday, so I won't be able to get in a whole lot of writing. What I'd like to accomplish is to write the first chapter for my new WIP. Stretch goal: write chapter two and then outline the next one.

Let's do this!

  2. Awesome, totally manageable goal for the week, Liz! I like that you've left room for the possibility of going further if there's time and all goes well with Chapter 1. Smart thinking! Good luck this week! :D

  4. Your goals rock, Liz! (Secret: I'm working on a ghost story too!) We should trade somewhere down the line... I love everything you've pinned on your inspiration board. Best of luck this summer, and have fun with the bachelorette party!

  5. I love the idea of a stretch goal. I think I'll have to mentally add one in each week if I'm doing really well at hitting my regular goals.

Good luck on your writing this week! :)

  9. A ghost story?! Love it! And you can totally do this. I picked THE WORST WEEK to start this - ugh - I am proctoring exams and tutoring like crazy. BUT we can do this. So glad you're doing this with us again!
