RSW Update #7

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive--hosted by Katy UppermanAlison MillerJaime Morrow, and Erin Funk--that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at in our writing—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing.

1. How I did on last week’s goals
Awful. I got in about 900 words.

2. My goals for this week
I'd like to reach 30k, which means a little over 7,500 words.

3. A favorite line from my story
A little more from last week's scene.

I looked at her fingers, which were beginning to waver between bone and skin then back up to her eyes. The pupils had taken over and soon they’d be all back.
“I’ll go with you, but you have to keep your skin on,” I whispered.
I really was losing my mind.

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week
I wrapped up a scene, got stuck, and then had a lot on my plate outside of writing.

5. Something I love about my WIP
Ice cream.

RSW Update #6

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive--hosted by Katy UppermanAlison MillerJaime Morrow, and Erin Funk--that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at in our writing—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing.

1. How I did on last week’s goals
Succeeded at writing every day. Stretch goal of 2,000 words a day? Not so much. Ended the week at 6,343 thanks to last night's Twitter party.

2. My goals for this week
I have another bachelorette this weekend, so instead of write every day, I'd like to do 4,000 words this week.

3. A favorite line from my story

Margaret stood in front of me, pale and a bit translucent, but at least she was wearing her skin this time—not that I knew how long that would last.

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week
Motivation. I just hit the middle...so you know how that goes.

5. Something I love about my WIP
Revenge

RSW Update #5

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive--hosted by Katy UppermanAlison MillerJaime Morrow, and Erin Funk--that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at in our writing—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing.

1. How I did on last week’s goals
Pretty good. I missed Saturday because I spent the house cleaning, but wrote every other day and managed 6,000 words for the week.

2. My goals for this week
Sticking with last week's goal. Write every day. I'd like to average 2,000 words a day to get this summer back on track but I don't know if I will be able to manage it.

3. A favorite line from my story
This is a line about one character deciding to join my MC and her best friend in solving a murder:

It seemed Jordan’s choice was me and Bri. Or ghosts and murder. Either way I’d count it a win.

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week
World Cup Party! That's why I was cleaning on Saturday. :)

5. Something I love about my WIP
Uncertainty, totally justifiable rants, breaking and entering.

RSW Update #4

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive--hosted by Katy UppermanAlison MillerJaime Morrow, and Erin Funk--that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at in our writing—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing.

1. How I did on last week’s goals
Not so hot. I was going strong until my husband gave me his summer sickness. I've been down since Wednesday. I did manage to outline two scenes, but my brain was not letting me write.

2. My goals for this week
Sticking with last week's goal. Write every day. I'd love to regain some ground and be at 22,000 by next week but we'll see.

3. A favorite line from my story
A few lines of dialogue:

“So we’re going to rely on a ghost that chased us out of a cemetery, haunted my dreams, and followed us to his house?”
“Oh hell no,” Bri said. “We’re going to rely on us.”
“And how are we going to solve a murder?” I aked.
“Google, of course."

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week
That whole being sick thing I mentioned earlier.

5. Something I love about my WIP
Ghosts. Sorry I know I've used it before but I really do love it.
