RSW Update #6

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive--hosted by Katy UppermanAlison MillerJaime Morrow, and Erin Funk--that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at in our writing—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing.

1. How I did on last week’s goals
Succeeded at writing every day. Stretch goal of 2,000 words a day? Not so much. Ended the week at 6,343 thanks to last night's Twitter party.

2. My goals for this week
I have another bachelorette this weekend, so instead of write every day, I'd like to do 4,000 words this week.

3. A favorite line from my story

Margaret stood in front of me, pale and a bit translucent, but at least she was wearing her skin this time—not that I knew how long that would last.

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week
Motivation. I just hit the middle...so you know how that goes.

5. Something I love about my WIP
Revenge

  1. That excerpt is so deliciously gross. I love creepy stories! And yay for last night's Twitter party. I so needed it, and I'm down for more all this week. Let me know when you're around!

  3. I am missing out on the twitter parties! I keep forgetting. Way to get all those words written.

  4. Seconding Katy--that excerpt is creepy in the best possible way. And I was not expecting the direction it took! This is a revenge story? I'm all the way in already.

The middle sucks so much, but at some point it's going to become the end, so keep that in mind!

  5. That excerpt has me so INTRIGUED!!! If you ever need another reader... :)

And yay for all the wordage! I'm so glad the Twitter parties are helpful. I am going to make it a goal to join in on a nightly one. It's hard - because that's the time I'm usually spending with my family, but I really want to! That and all the productivity and fun - must do this. :)

Anyhoo - sounds like you had a great week! Keep plugging away, lady! You can get through that middle!

  6. Love the excerpt! It begs the question: What was it like last time??? You did so well this week, Liz! Good job! I had originally been setting a words/day goal, but changed that to a weekly word count goal to add some flexibility. It's so tough in the summer not to have flexibility for things like bachelorettes and all that fun stuff. Have a great and super productive week! :-)

  7. Oh that line gave me chills! No skin...eep! I'm glad she was wearing it, too! Darn ghosts.
Good luck with your word count this week. Sometimes you have to modify it with busy weekends. I know I do.

  8. Ooo, creepy line! Skinless characters are definitely on the scary side. You had an incredible week even if you didn't meet your stretch goal. I'm aiming for 4000 words this week too, so I'll be typing away right alongside you. Good luck! :)

  11. Oh the dreaded middle. Yes, that can be a slog for sure. The only way out of the middle is through. There will always be revisions. Keep moving forward!
