RSW Update #9

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive--hosted by Katy UppermanAlison MillerJaime Morrow, and Erin Funk--that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at in our writing—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing

1. How I did on last week’s goals
5,800 words! Overshot it by 800 and am so happy. First time in a few weeks I've made my goal

2. My goals for this week
I think I'm going to stick with 5,000 words. That worked well for me. Stretch goal would be 7,000 (an average of 1,000 a day)

3. A favorite line from my story

When we got to the park, he cracked the windows, letting in the summer steam, and turned off the engine. We looked at each other in silence for a few seconds.

“I wanted to talk to you about something,” Jordan said at the same time I said, “I need to tell you something.”

“You first,” I said.

More stalling. This was a mistake. I knew it, but it didn’t stop me from making it.

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week
The vortex of self-doubt and loathing. But then I read a little of Writing Down the Bones and that pulled me out of it.

5. Something I love about my WIP
Romance.

  2. Um, I love your excerpt and your what you love about your WiP. Romance and chemistry in the excerpt, yes, all god things. I am glad you were able to push past your self-doubt, because you rocked your goals this week and we had fun on Twitter! Lets do it again this week!

  3. I love Writing Down the Bones! We used it in the one creative writing class I took in college and it helped so much with just getting me to write.

Great job meeting your goal this week!

  6. I hate that vortex of self-doubt and loathing! The good news is that it seems like every writer feels it. Loved the last line in your excerpt ;). Hope you have a great week!
