Representation News

I rewrote the title to this blog post several times, and I'm still not satisfied with it. It's something I've wanted to write, even dreamed of writing after reading similar posts by friends, but now that I'm the one writing it it feels surreal.

I'm excited to announce that I'm now being represented by Rena Rossner of the Deborah Harris Agency--specifically for Stars & Stripes (that Civil War novel I started during NaNoWriMo two years ago, the first and only time I've done NaNO.)

I guess that makes it almost two years to the date that I started this novel, and it's been a crazy, crazy trip: from a horrible first draft; to months of research, rewrites, and revisions; to 9+ months of querying, here we are.

I'm so excited to be working with Rena. From one conversation I knew she understood my book and my characters, and I'm thrilled to start this next chapter. And begin another round of waiting :)

This definitely earns the official seal. Happy Thursday.

What's Up Wednesday

“What’s Up Wednesday” is a weekly blog hop by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk. From Jaime: It’s similar in some respects to the Currently… post, but it’s been whittled down to only four headings to make it quicker and more manageable on a weekly basis. Be sure to visit Jaime's blog to add your post to the link list!

It's been a while, but I'm still here. I promise! You can check my Tumblr and my Twitter if you don't believe me. Work's been crazy (that's always my excuse, but it's legit, I swear).

What I'm Reading: I've been doing a reread of the Harry Potter series (because Fall). I'm currently on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (or as many of the movie watchers may know it: Draco Malfoy and the Vanishing Cabinet, but I digress). I'm loving rereading these old books. It's been a good exercise as a writer too--to see how Rowling weaves threads in all the way from the beginning.

What I'm Writing: Still working on my southern Gothic. Ghosts and murder and mayhem are perfect for October, even if they are freaking me out. Currently reading through my draft and making notes.

What Inspires Me Right Now: Possibilities. And new beginnings. I'm going to be an aunt, and I couldn't be more excited!

What Else I've Been Up To: A lot of things around the house--tearing up our old linoleum floor in the basement, repotting my herbs for the fall, trying to figure out how to over-winter my peppers. I've discovered this year that I REALLY like gardening.

What's up with you?
