Ready. Set. Write! 2015 | My Goals

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at with our writing projects—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing.  This year, your RSW hosts are Alison Miller, Jaime Morrow, Erin Funk, Elodie Nowodazkij, and Katy Upperman. We check in every Monday and conclude on August 31.

I'm so excited these lovely ladies have brought back RSW for 2015! Last year I managed to write basically a full book. Said book is currently on the shelf as revisions got a little too close to home for me, but it was still awesome!

So this year, here are my goals:

  1. WRITE ALL THE WORDS!
Finish my current WIP, which is Beauty and the Beast meets Edgar Allen Poe. Set in 1800's Savannah, Ga.
  2. READ ALL THE WORDS! I currently have several books on hold at the library as e-books. Should I get to the top of the list for all of them this summer, I'd like to finish them. These include Code Name Verity, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, Between Shades of Gray, The Wrath and the Dawn, Things We Know By Heart, The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender, and Saint Anything.
  3. DO ALL THE MOVES!
Now that I'm in a much less stressful work environment, I'm finally making time for me again. By the end of the summer I'd like to be up to 2 days of yoga and 2 days of cardio per week!
For this week:
  1. We're painting a room this week, so I'm going to have a lot of my free time going toward that. Still, I'd like to get 2,500 words in this week. More if I can.
  2. Finish Things We Know By Heart and start To All the Boys I've Loved Before
  3. Cardio Monday (done!) & Wednesday. Yoga Tuesday & Thursday.

  1. 2500 (minimum) words for the week is what I'm aiming for too! Here's hoping we can both meet that goal this week. Best of luck finishing up your B&B/Poe story. This one has always sounded so, so cool to me. Can't wait to hear more about it! :D

  9. Your summer reading list makes me so happy -- so many contemps, Liz! I've got THE WRATH & THE DAWN waiting for me, so we'll have to chat, and I'm so excited that you're reading Jenny Han's duology. <3 Best of luck with your WiP this summer. I didn't realize it was set in Savannah! We're going next week as part of our move road trip. One of my favorite cities! Looking forward to writing with you this summer, lady!

  11. Your WIP sounds simply AMAZING, and our library lists sound surprisingly similar ... hmmm ;) What can I say, we have good taste, eh? I actually just broke down and bought The Wrath and the Dawn. It was quite good and quite full of delicious meals that made me hungry, haha! Ava Lanvender am reading currently.

I am in awe of you finishing an entire MS last summer. I'd looove to do that! New goal.
